How to play Nuts and Bolts
Nuts and Bolts is a free color-sorting puzzle. Tap to lift the top nuts off a bolt and move them to another bolt until every bolt holds nuts of a single color.
How to play
Pick a difficulty and level
Choose Easy, Medium, or Hard. Each track has 100 levels that get more tangled as you go. The first 10 of each are free.
Select a bolt
Tap any bolt to lift its top nut. Matching nuts of the same color on top move together as a group.
Move to a legal bolt
Tap a second bolt to fly the nuts across. A move is legal if the target has space and is empty or shows the same color on top.
Sort every color
The level is complete when every bolt is either empty or filled with four nuts of one color. A glow marks each finished bolt.
Use boosters when stuck
Undo is always free. Spend stars on a hint or an extra empty bolt when a level gets tight.
Tips
- Empty bolts are your most valuable resource. Avoid filling them with mixed colors.
- Move whole same-color groups instead of single nuts whenever possible.
- Uncover buried colors early; a color trapped under three others is the real puzzle.
- Before using the extra bolt, check whether an undo chain solves the jam for free.
About Nuts and Bolts
Nuts and Bolts on 100 Daily Games is a sorting puzzle in the spirit of classic color-sort games, rebuilt around chunky hardware: colorful glossy nuts stacked on silver bolts. Tap one bolt, then another, and the top run of same-colored nuts lifts off, arcs across the board, and clicks onto its new stack. Sort every color onto its own bolt to finish the level.
Every level is generated deterministically, so level 42 on Hard is the same puzzle for everyone. And every level is verified solvable before it reaches the board. Difficulty scales the number of colors, the spare space available, and how thoroughly the stacks are shuffled: Easy starts with four colors and gentle mixing, while Hard packs eight colors into tightly interleaved stacks with little room to maneuver.
The game is built for one-handed play: generous tap targets, a clear lift on the selected nuts, pulsing highlights on legal targets, and a quick shake when a move is not allowed. Undo is free and unlimited, while hints and an extra bolt are available for stars when a layout gets genuinely knotty.
Like every game on 100 Daily Games, Nuts and Bolts runs free in your browser with no download. The first ten levels of each difficulty are free; the deeper 90 levels of each track are part of 100 Daily Games Plus.
Frequently asked questions
How do I finish a level in Nuts and Bolts?
Rearrange the nuts until every non-empty bolt holds four nuts of a single color. Completed bolts glow, and the level ends when every color is sorted.
Why can't I move a nut onto a bolt?
A move needs two things: free space on the target bolt, and a matching color. The target must be empty or show the same color on top as the nut you are moving.
Are the levels random?
No. All 300 levels are generated from fixed seeds, so each level is identical for every player, and every level is checked to be solvable before it is served.
What do Undo, Hint, and Add Bolt do?
Undo rewinds your last move for free. Hint highlights a recommended move for 5 stars. Add Bolt adds one extra empty bolt for 10 stars, once per level.
Is Nuts and Bolts free?
Levels 1-10 of each difficulty are free to play in your browser. Levels 11-100 of each difficulty are included with 100 Daily Games Plus.
